Kosmovision Foundation’s Creative Wellbeing: Writing, Comics & Art is a free program for young people aged 15–22who live, study, work, play or have a strong connection to Bayside.
Starting Monday 19 October 2026, the program will run from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Peterson Youth Centre in Highett.
Across 12 weekly sessions, participants will explore creative writing, comics, character creation, art, visual storytelling and collaborative creative activities in a welcoming, inclusive and low-pressure environment.
No previous writing, drawing or arts experience is required.
What will we explore?
Writing and storytelling
Experiment with voice, scenes, fragments, short-form writing and imagined stories.
Characters
Create characters, relationships, motivations and different perspectives.
Comics and visual storytelling
Explore how images, words and sequences can work together to tell a story.
Art and visual expression
Use drawing, colour, symbols, collage and visual prompts to develop and communicate ideas.
Worldbuilding and imagination
Create places, imagined worlds, story settings and possible futures.
Creative collaboration
Make alongside others, exchange ideas and contribute to optional individual or shared creative projects.
Throughout the program, participants will have opportunities to develop their own written, visual or combined creative work.
Creative wellbeing
The program creates an inclusive, non-clinical creative environment where young people can develop creative skills, self-expression, confidence, communication, social connection, belonging and participation through sustained creative practice.
Creative activities can also provide distance when exploring meaningful ideas. Participants do not need to tell their personal story. A character, fictional conflict, comic, symbol or imagined world can hold an idea or experience instead.
Young people can participate at their own pace, use different creative approaches and decide what they would like to keep private or share with others.
Who is it for?
The program is for young people aged 15–22 who live, study, work, play or have a strong connection to Bayside.
We welcome young people with different creative interests, communication styles and ways of participating, including neurodivergent young people and young people who may experience barriers to accessing arts or community activities.
No diagnosis, professional referral or previous artistic experience is required.
A participant-shaped creative space
There is no single way to participate.
You might prefer writing, drawing, developing characters, creating comics, imagining worlds, experimenting with visual ideas or combining several creative forms.
There will also be opportunities for low-pressure, optional sharing. Participants remain in control of whether and how their creative work is shared.
